Welcome to Oxford Archers

Est. 1948
Oxford RFC Grounds, North Hinksey, Oxford.

clubchamps081An open and friendly club, Oxford Archers has been welcoming archers of all levels and all bowstyles for sixty years.

We are dedicated to maintaining a supportive atmosphere in which all can develop to their full potential, and are proud to be home to a number of nationally and internationally competitive archers.

As well as being somewhere to practice and improve, Oxford Archers is also a club in the true sense of the word. We hold regular socials, fun shoots and archery related days out - look for us in the pictures from the Dover World Cup! All members are encouraged to lend a helping hand and have their say in the running of the club.

So whether you're after a gold medal or a bit of fun, Oxford Archers is the club for you!

Do You Want To Shoot?

There are several ways we can introduce you to the sport of archery. Have-A-Go events are ideal for trying archery without the commitment of a Beginner's Course. We can arrange corporate events and archery parties for birthdays, hen days and the like. A Beginner's Course will coach you to a level of competence required to join an archery club. Our qualified coaches offer private, one-on-one tuition at any level - from complete newcomer up to international standard.

Field Shoots

Windrush Bowmen have always issued us a standing invitation to join them on their monthly field shoots. As from November any GNAS member (any Oxford Archer) can join them for a shoot without having to join the National Field Archery Society (NFAS). They are held every third Sunday of the month (start 10:00am), shooting fee £2.00, next event 16th November. Contact them or Reg if trying something different interests you. Their Boxing Day shoot is something of a tradition and always attracts a number of Oxford Archers.

Saturday 27 September - FITA World Cup Grand Final

niclausanneOxford Archer Nichola Simpson has won the Womens Compound Silver Medal at the FITA Archery World Cup Grand Final in Lausanne, Switzerland.  After four rounds held in venues across the world, the top four archers in each classification met in Lausanne for a grand shootout.

Nichola started well in her semi-final, shooting a personal best to beat Croatia's Ivana Buden 116-108. In the afternoon she came up against Jamie Van Natta of the United States, who defeated Amandine Bouillot of France in the semi-final on a tie-break after the scores were level at 108.

Starting with a 9-10-10, Nichola held the lead 86-84 going in to the last end. Van Natta shot a perfect 10-10-10 to snatch the Gold by two points - 112-114.

Much as she will be disappointed, it has been a terrific 2008 for Nichola. Five Masters World Records and a Silver Medal from the Grand Final are just the cream of what she has achieved this year. Well done Nic. Oxford Archers are proud of you.

More reports on the Fita website, and video replays can be seen here.
